F1 | Mercedes, Wolff does not lower his guard: "A retirement could cancel out Lewis' advantage"

The first three races of the season gave us a Mercedes that was disarming for its opponents. The Anglo/German team left only crumbs to the other teams, more due to some errors in evaluation by the two drivers than due to the merits of others, otherwise it would have been three easy one-two finishes. Objectively, the world championship already seems to be as good as decided, given the huge regulatory restrictions which in fact do not allow the very high level imposed by Mercedes to be reached, but team principal Toto Wolff does not want to lower his guard in any way.

“I'm not sure that the competition will disappear – Wolff said to f1.com. Red Bull showed they could fight all weekend, and they had a very good race, despite the problem before the start, with the mechanics doing a really fantastic job on Verstappen's car. There is no big gap between Lewis and Max: they are just 30 points after three races, so a retirement could close this gap, we must not let our guard down. We must not think we are the greatest, it would be counterproductive. It's important to collect every point and I've always said that every session must be optimized for this objective. Three wins out of three races, we can be proud of it, but we have to keep working, the gap is never big enough with our opponents. There are three more races, they will be very important and hopefully good for us. We're not even at 20% of the championship yet, we have to keep pushing."
