F1 | Mercedes, Wolff: "Let's keep our heads down, Ferrari will continue to push"

Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes are preparing to win this drivers' and constructors' world championship too. After a complicated start and a balanced continuation, the forces on the track have clearly taken the direction of Brackley, with the Anglo/German team close to winning their fifth consecutive title in both world championships, but Toto Wolff doesn't want any lapses in concentration.

“In the summer we didn't have the fastest car – admits Wolff – we have seen a major change in our performance only recently. However, Ferrari is closer than it might seem: their car is strong and they will continue to push until the final corner in Abu Dhabi. They have been worthy opponents in the 17 races played so far and we believe they will be worthy opponents in the last four too, just like us, we will fight ferociously for every point and position. The two doubles in a row demonstrated the excellent form of the riders, and with six victories in the last seven races Lewis showed everyone his class. Both on and off the track he is more complete than ever, putting in great performances in the car and encouraging the whole team to reach ever higher levels. For Valtteri the summer was not easy, but he has returned to going strong in recent weeks. He was very competitive in both Sochi and Suzuka, perfectly embodying our team spirit. We are lucky to have two riders like that and we know we can always count on them. I repeat, the battle is far from over, let's go to Austin with the same spirit as always: let's take one step at a time, let's focus on our work and make sure we are reliable and high-performance on the track. COTA has always brought us good results, but past results have nothing to do with the current championship. Everyone on the team knows that we can't take anything for granted, so we will be as diligent as ever, keep our heads down and work hard to get a good result in Texas."
