F1 | Mercedes, Wolff: “Ferrari manages the tires great”

The challenge between Ferraris and Mercedes has been in full swing for some time now and many are wondering who the absolute favorite is for the world championship race. The results are proving the Italian team right but many things could change during the season.

Despite this, even the Mercedes boss, Toto wolff, judged Ferrari's performances to be superior to those of his team: "We have been underdogs since the beginning of the season - he told Autosport - but that's okay, because when you're not the favourite, it means that people want you to be the one WIN".

The problem of this first part of the season is all in the continuity of performances: “We have never managed to have good performances with both single-seaters. In Sochi Bottas was very strong, but it wasn't the same for Hamilton. This is a condition that has been haunting us throughout the season."

However, according to Wolff, the real difference is being made by the tyres, with the Ferrari competitive and fast with every solution: “We must not look for excuses but only fill the gap as soon as possible. We have seen that other teams also have the same problem as us, but then manage to do well in the race. The only team that doesn't have it is Ferrari. Credit to them, they managed to design a car capable of managing the tires excellently."
