F1 | Mercedes, Valtteri Bottas is sure: "We will fight for pole"

Valtteri Bottas is the fastest on Friday on the Hungaroring circuit in Budapest. The Finn took the lead in the second free practice session, setting the fastest lap with a time of 1.17.012s, twenty-seven thousandths faster than that of teammate Lewis Hamilton. In the morning session, however, Bottas placed himself in second position behind Max Verstappen's Red Bull, which however seems to be in clear difficulty around the curves of the Hungarian circuit. The times from the race simulations speak for themselves, it seems to be the three-pointed star that has that little bit more to stay ahead, but the asphalt today reached 63°C and the radars signaled the arrival of rain. On Friday, we know, we hide, and who knows if Valtteri will still be the one to put himself ahead of everyone in qualifying - again in the traditional format - or if the last appointment before the summer break will give us some surprises.

F1 | Race pace analysis in Hungary: Mercedes, Ferrari and Verstappen in difficulty are flying

"It felt like a Finnish sauna today, especially when you stop mid-ride – it was over sixty degrees in the cockpit! – revealed Bottas – it's complicated to manage the tires, which overheat, but honestly it wasn't that bad: a promising start. We've made some improvements recently and I don't think we're that bad, but it's only Friday, you never know how much the others are hiding. In FP1 we had to work with the balance, but we immediately found the solution and we were stronger in the afternoon, but we can still give more. We will fight for pole tomorrow, it's extremely motivating".
