F1 | Mercedes, the idea of ​​a "B team" is gaining ground: Williams and Force India are the eligible teams

La Mercedes could follow in the footsteps of Ferrari. The German team is closely observing the partnership that the Cavallino has with the Haas, taking it as inspiration for the immediate future: that the idea is to guarantee a "B team", in fact, is no longer new. In recent days the hypothesis of a possible agreement with the Williams, to which the Stuttgart manufacturer already supplies its own power unit, but the position of the Force India, also powered by Mercedes.

“We have seen that the system between Ferrari e Haas It's working on both sides." – declared a Globe Toto wolff, executive director of Mercedes. “It's profitable for Ferrari and good for Haas – in terms of synergy there's a lot of work to be done. So far the partnership has been successful and obviously our thoughts go in that direction, with both Williams and Force India. But now we are in the middle of a tough fight for the championship, which we must give priority to.".

As early as next season, the Star could set up a collaboration of this type, with the knowledge that the fruits would be reaped in the years to come: "We can do something by 2019, we have this ability. The problem is the details. It's not just about increasing production, but about doing it in a way that doesn't hinder anything. It would be a long-term project and not something with an immediate impact in 2019.".
