F1 | Mercedes, Mike Elliott: “We still aim to win one or more GPs”

Despite having reached the podium in eight of the last nine world championship races, Mercedes certainly cannot be satisfied with the current season, which is stingy with great joys. George Russell's performance was excellent, and Lewis Hamilton himself returned to driving at his level, but both British standard-bearers did not go beyond the second step of the podium. And if your name is Mercedes, victory is an obsession that is inevitably missing.

Mike Elliott, speaking to the official channels of the Anglo-German team, explained how the most frustrating thing about 2022 is the fluctuating performance of a W13 that is sometimes competitive and sometimes in great difficulty. Nonetheless, Brackley's technical director sets what are still the team's objectives: to return to victory as soon as possible and catch Ferrari.

“I think ours has been a pretty frustrating season – Elliott's words – I'm not just talking about the sheer performance, but also the fact that it feels like a roller coaster. With the W13 we go up and down in performance, there is a lack of continuity. Nonetheless, we will do everything we can to fight until the end with Ferrari for second position in the Constructors' Championship and we want to try to win a race, or even several races if we succeed. We want to move forward, improve and grow already this year, to be absolute protagonists in 2023."
