F1: Mercedes hires Aldo Costa and Geoff Willis

Mercedes GP confirmed today that former Ferrari technical director Aldo Costa will be reunited with his former colleague Ross Brawn. The Brackley team also announced that former HRT technical director Geoff Willis will join the team as director of technology starting next month.

Willis had already worked for the team until 2006, when the team was still called Honda.

Costa, who worked at Ferrari with Brawn several years ago, will start working at Mercedes as director of engineering from December.

Costa and Willis will report directly to technical director Bob Bell, former Renault boss.

“Aldo will be responsible for design and development and Geoffrey will take care of aerodynamics, vehicle dynamics, control systems and simulations,” the team said in a statement.

“Building a winning team is an exciting challenge for all of us, we want to pursue the competitiveness and standards we aspire to as an official Mercedes-Benz team” declared Ross Brawn.
