F1 | Mercedes, Hamilton: “I like exciting battles, it should always be like this”

Lewis Hamilton will start from the second row tomorrow in the Bahrain Grand Prix behind the two Ferraris. The English champion said he was satisfied with his performance, despite the difficulties that Mercedes often encounters on the Sakhir circuit.

“I really enjoyed qualifying and it was great to see how much we progressed over the weekend – Hamilton said. Congratulations to Charles, he did a great job and deserved pole today: we saw a very high pace from the Ferraris all weekend. There was a lot of work on our part to close this gap, but they were really fast on the straights, that's where we lost performance today. The car was okay, but this track has never been suitable for our car, so I can say that today went well, and I hope it can be the same tomorrow. It will be a tough race from a physical and tire point of view, but our pace is good, so I'm confident. I like having these exciting battles, that's how it should always be."
