F1 | Mercedes, Hamilton: “Intense work, the car seems like a step forward compared to last year”

Fifth time for Lewis Hamilton on the final day of the winter tests held on the Catalan circuit of Montmeló. The Englishman, who took to the track in the morning, completed 90 laps, the fastest of which was achieved in 1'16"410 using the softer Pirelli compound. The reigning world champion continued the work he started yesterday, slowed down by the problem with the power unit, and collected further aerodynamic data in addition to carrying out long runs.

"We passed the testsIt's crazy how quickly these last two weeks have gone by – declared Hamilton -. It was intense, with a huge amount of work from everyone on the track and back in the factories. The car feels like a step up from last year, but it's clear we still have some issues to resolve before Melbourne. I have total faith in the team and know they will do everything they can to ensure we arrive in Australia in a good place. The start of the new season comes so quickly and we will be racing in just two weeks. I can't wait".
