F1 | Mercedes, Hamilton on track with the power unit warmed up in Brazil
The team will evaluate the data during the first free practices
No worries at Mercedes about the power unit problem suffered by Lewis Hamilton during the last Brazilian Grand Prix. After having analyzed the failure at Brixworth, in fact, the team authorized the Englishman to take to the track with the "warmed-up" power unit at Interlagos, reserving the possibility of making the change between free practice 1 and free practice 2.
If the engineers were to notice any inconsistencies during morning practice, Hamilton would be stopped preventively, with the team installing the fourth power unit of the season. A choice that would force him to start from last position in Sunday's Grand Prix. This risk, at least for the moment, seems to have been averted, but the final evaluation will only arrive in a couple of hours.
