F1 | Mercedes, Bottas disappoints: "When you start from pole you want to win"

Once again Valtteri Bottas failed to turn his pole position into a victory. The Mercedes driver finished third in the Portuguese Grand Prix, outclassed by Hamilton and Verstappen. The Finn took home the fastest lap of the race, thanks also to the intervention of the stewards, who took away the time from the Dutchman from Red Bull for having violated the track limits. Little consolation, very little indeed for Valtteri, who seems to suffer the events around him helplessly.

“Obviously it's not the result I was hoping to get today, because when you start from pole you want to take home the victory – admitted Bottas. I think in the end the main problem was the first stint: I was looking for my rhythm and I still don't understand why I couldn't find it. The first lap on the hard tire was slow after the pit stop and Max managed to catch me. Then we had a problem with the exhaust temperature sensor in the final stages of the race and this made me lose speed on the straight, so it was difficult to get close and fight for second position. Eventually the power came back and I managed to set the fastest lap. We need to carefully analyze what happened this weekend over the next few days, learn the lessons and focus on the weekend in Barcelona."
