F1 | Mercedes, Bottas: “Renewal? It's premature to talk about it now."

Called up last winter to replace Nico Rosberg, who decided to hang up his helmet after winning the world title in Abu Dhabi, Valtteri Bottas has had a good first part of the season so far with Mercedes.

In the first five world championship events held, the former Williams Finn achieved the first pole (Bahrain GP) and the first victory (Russian GP) of his career, with a haul of 63 points which currently earn him third place in the World Championship behind the current leader Sebastian Vettel and teammate Lewis Hamilton.

For the Finnish newspaper Ilta sanomat the chances of seeing Bottas in Mercedes also in 2018 (number 77 has signed an annual contract with the Star, which expires at the end of the season) are now higher. But the person concerned is currently stalling on this possibility: “It's too early to talk about a contract extension".

"We are fully focused on the championship, we are fighting with Ferrari on every track – added the Finn – Of course, we will have to talk about my future later but the time has not yet come".
