F1 | Mercedes, Bottas looking for motivation: "I have to get good results, I need it"

It is not an exciting period for Valtteri Bottas: the Finnish Mercedes driver, still without a victory this year, has been used more to take points away from Ferrari than for anything else. Last year, however, there were three successes for the #77, and he hopes to be able to return to the top step of the podium by the end of the season, even if beating Hamilton in this period is not at all easy, but the latest results are not they are good for his morale.

“It will always be difficult to beat Lewis – Bottas said to Motorsport. He is having a great world championship, he is in the running to win it, I am no longer. I want to take everything I can for the championship, and the goal is third place, it's still possible. I will continue to motivate myself, trying to bring home good results, I really feel the need. It's been a while since my last good performances, I won the last race almost a year ago (Abu Dhabi 2017, ed.). The team wants me to achieve good results, but obviously things change when it comes to the world title. I have to try to keep myself hungry and motivated at every race, obviously mentally for me now it's more difficult than in the first races, when you still have the chance to win the world championship. I need to set goals for myself, if I start with the assumption of helping, that's certainly not ideal. I need to have clear objectives in every race weekend, this is what I will do."
