F1 | Mercedes, Bottas: “Disappointed with the result”

Unlucky race for Valtteri Bottas in the Silverstone Grand Prix. After maintaining second position for almost the entire GP, with two laps to go the front tire of his W11 gave out, forcing him to pit. He crossed the finish line in 11th position, thus losing second place in the world rankings.

“It's a really disappointing result for me. I was very unlucky with the puncture; everything was fine up until that point. I was trying to put pressure on Lewis, but we knew we would have a long stint on the hard tyre. Towards the end I was starting to feel more and more vibrations on the left front. I didn't see any debris or anything, so I reported the vibrations and started managing the tires, but then the tire suddenly gave out on the starting straight and I had to complete a full lap to go to the pits, which cost me a a lot of time. I'm sure there will be many lessons to learn from this weekend, we will take them into account and think about next weekend."
