F1 | McLaren, video message to Ferrari: "Take care of Sainz, like we did"

The one held on Sunday at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi was Carlos Sainz's last race in McLaren. In fact, the Spaniard is looking forward to his professional experience at Ferrari where, starting next year, he will take Sebastian Vettel's seat and share the Cavallino garage with Charles Leclerc.

To greet his standard bearer, who in his two-year experience in Woking achieved two podiums (third in the 2019 Brazilian GP and second in the 2020 Italian GP) and finished sixth in the Drivers' Championship in both seasons, he addressed a video message addressed to Ferrari – where all of McLaren's staff is based – asking Maranello to take care of it.

"To the friends of Scuderia Ferrari and their fans – the opening words of the video, opened by Lando Norris – Today we want to send you a message. You have been and are among our fiercest rivals. We respect your history just as we respect ours. We enjoyed the battles with the red team. McLaren and Ferrari are like two opposite poles that attract each other. You are our opponents, but also friends and we have respect for the Scuderia and the fans. And now, in this special moment of the year, we want to give you a gift. We took care of it for two years. We looked after him and helped him grow. Now it's your turn. Take care of it, like we did. See you next year on the slopes. HI".

Ferrari's response was not long in coming. Again through social media, the Cavallino team commented by writing: "Thank you so much for this beautiful gift, McLaren. Don't worry, we will take care of Carlos".
