F1 | McLaren, Sergio Sette Camara will join the Young Driver Program

With a press release issued this morning, McLaren confirmed the arrival of Sergio Sette Camara, a Brazilian talent currently involved in the Formula 2 championship with the Carlin team, in the team.

The twenty-year-old, born in Belo Horizonte on 23 May 1998, will play the role of test driver during the 2019 season, providing useful information on the simulator, and will become part of the McLaren Young Driver Program, a hotbed of talent promoted by the Woking Scuderia.

An important opportunity for one of the most interesting young people present within the Formula 2 driver pool.

Here are his words released on the official McLaren website: “My dream has always been to get to Formula 1 and I have to thank the team for this opportunity. My goal will be to integrate into the team and work closely with them."

Here are the words of Gil de Ferran, sporting director of the Woking Scuderia: “We are delighted to welcome Sergio to McLaren and our Young Driver Programme. We have been following his progress for some time and believe he is a promising young man with very high potential. We look forward to working with him to develop his skills.”
