F1 | McLaren, Seidl congratulates the team's work: "It's important to confirm ourselves as fourth force"

Satisfaction at McLaren for the placings obtained by Lando Norris and Carlos Sainz in the last Austrian Grand Prix, the ninth round of this 2019 Formula 1 world championship. After the excellent results at Paul Ricard, in fact, McLaren confirmed itself as fourth strength also at play at the Red Bull Ring, gaining important points in terms of the fight for fourth place in the constructors' championship. A positive weekend that the Woking team hopes to repeat in two weeks, when the Circus arrives at Silverstone for the British Grand Prix.

“Congratulations to the whole team here in Austria and to the guys who worked in the factory”, said Andreas Seidl. “We are talking about a great result for McLaren, given that we managed to score important points for the fight for the constructors' championship. The sixth and eighth places were well deserved and the most important thing is that we managed to confirm ourselves as the fourth force of this championship. The drivers did an excellent job and the same goes for the mechanics and strategists."

On Norris' race he stated: “Lando had a great start and the first lap was quite exciting. Subsequently we stabilized in sixth position, managing to control his pace with the soft tyres. After the pit we opted for the mediums and thanks to his driving we managed to stay ahead of Pierre Gasly's Red Bull."

Satisfaction also for Carlos Sainz's race: “Carlos made a great start from last position, but subsequently had to manage the medium tire throughout the first part of the race. He did an excellent job which allowed him to attack decisively in the second part, this time with the hard. He made some brilliant overtaking. Unfortunately his comeback ended in an attempt to overtake Gasly, as he damaged his front wing in the process of attacking. From then on he managed the position, bringing home an important result."

Finally, conclusion on the next round at Silverstone and the spectacle admired at the Red Bull Ring: “We can't wait to race at Silverstone, our home Grand Prix. On Austria, however, it was important to give an answer after last week's negative comments. We saw a brilliant race not only in the midfield, but also in the top positions of the standings."
