Interviewed by the newspaper Marca, Andreas Seidl spoke about the development that McLaren will follow in the coming months, underlining how the English team will not sacrifice next year's car to improve the current MCL34.
According to what was declared by the McLaren Team Principal, in fact, the Woking team will divert its attention to the new car in the coming weeks, making only small changes to this year's car. A tough choice, but necessary in view of 2020.
“I will not compromise the development of the 2020 car for this year, as next season is really important for us,” said Andreas Seidl. “Obviously we want to fight for fourth place in the constructors' championship, but we must not make any compromises for next year. There is a plan that we want to follow in these months and we will continue to do so. Spa and Monza were a small step backwards, but these are things that happen. It's part of sport."
