F1 | McLaren, Sainz fourth after free practice: "We have to work to confirm ourselves"

Great day for Carlos Sainz, who finished in fourth place in Montreal after the first two free practice sessions. The Spanish driver immediately found himself at ease with the car, while Norris, eleventh at the end of Free Practice 2, had some more difficulties.

“We can be quite happy about this Friday – Sainz admitted. The day's plan included a lot of out-ins, a lot of aerodynamic testing and trying a lot of components, trying to find the right compromise. In this sense I think we are working well, we are in the right direction and it is nice to have new parts to try to find the best performance. I felt comfortable with the car this morning, and that obviously helped put together a decent lap and have good pace on the long run. It was encouraging, but it's only free practice, so we have to keep our heads down and work hard to see if tomorrow we can confirm the good things we did today."

“Overall it wasn't a good day for me – Norris said. I got to grips with the track quite quickly, it's not difficult to learn, but I struggled to progress with the car. I'm struggling with some things that I'm finding difficult to improve. There is potential: Carlos is getting a lot more out of the car than me, so the pace is there, but I'm not doing a great job! I will try to improve tomorrow, hoping that things go better."
