F1 | McLaren, Ricciardo: “Obvious difficulties, I couldn't overtake”

Really complicated race for Daniel Ricciardo and McLaren. The Australian, seventh on the grid, unfortunately only crossed the finish line in fifteenth position. A disastrous result, the result of an MCL36 practically unsuitable for the Spa-Francorchamps circuit, as also demonstrated by the race of Lando Norris, twelfth. The Australian, known as the master of overtaking, however struggled to recover positions, slipping to the end of the group due to his car's speed handicap.

"I think our difficulties were evident. Not to be pessimistic, but before the race I already knew that we would struggle a lot in the first and third sectors due to the rear wing that we were forced to fit yesterday. Obviously, I hoped that I would have enough speed in the second sector to try anything, but I couldn't make overtaking with the pace available. – revealed Daniel – I know I'm not the only one who struggled with overtaking today, it seemed like some cars were faster than others on the straight. In the clean air we certainly had more speed, but we were stuck behind other cars for too long and couldn't do much. I think there were really a lot of opportunities, thanks to the mixed grid, but I noticed that Lando's race wasn't that much better than mine, so we probably lacked the means. In a week we will be able to make up for it in Zandvoort. We'll see how it goes there, let's hope it's a good weekend".
