F1 | McLaren, Norris will start sixth in Abu Dhabi: “We couldn't have done better”

Good result for Lando Norris, who will start from sixth position on the starting grid in Abu Dhabi. The Briton is first among the others immediately behind the top teams, an excellent performance and which confirms McLaren's enormous growth this season. Sainz is disappointed with ninth place (he will start eighth due to the penalty to Bottas), but the fourth row is certainly not to be thrown away, also aware of the fact that he has the best car in the middle of the group under his seat.

“It was a good qualifying for me, Carlos and the team – Norris said. We classified in seventh place, but we will start sixth due to the penalty to Bottas, so I'm happy. These two days have been good and I feel comfortable with the car, which is positive. We knew qualifying would be tough and our goal was to get into Q3. We are ahead of the others in the middle of the group! We couldn't have done better, it's a great way to end the season."

“I am very disappointed with ninth position – Sainz said. I was hoping to put together a good lap in Q3, but the out-lap wasn't positive. We got into trouble with Mercedes and Ferrari and the last attempt was compromised. It's a shame, because with the Q2 lap we would have been seventh. I expect a tough race, we must immediately shift our attention to tomorrow."
