F1 | McLaren hires Spaniard Alex Palou

Through a statement published on its website, McLaren has made the entry of Alex Palou's family official. The Spaniard, who won the IndyCar title last year, will join the testing program of the Woking team which has already seen young talents of the caliber of Pato O'Ward and Colton Herta. Palou will join McLaren at the end of the 35 IndyCar season.

"I am extremely excited to join this group of drivers for such an iconic team as McLaren – said Palou – I'm excited to be able to show what I can do behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car and see what doors it might open. I want to thank Chip Ganassi Racing above all for everything they have done for me".

"We've always said we want the best talent at McLaren and it's exciting to be able to include Alex in that list – Brown said – I look forward to seeing him behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car as part of our Testing of Previous Cars (TPC) program alongside Pato O'Ward and Colton Herta as we continue to build the talents of our drivers. Alex is an incredibly talented driver who has won in every series he has raced in and I am delighted to welcome him to the McLaren family".
