F1 | McLaren confirms the hiring of Carlos Sainz for 2019

With a press release issued a few minutes ago, McLaren confirmed the hiring of Carlos Sainz for the 2019 season, thus covering the hole left free by Fernando Alonso's farewell to the Circus.

The current Renault standard bearer, left aside by the French team after the sensational arrival of Daniel Ricciardo, will begin a new adventure in Woking and will try to bring a team back to the top that, especially in the last three seasons, has failed to fight for the noble areas of the ranking, suffering quite a bit from the competitiveness of teams like Haas, Force India and in the past Williams.

It should be noted that with this move, Sainz definitively distances himself from Red Bull, with the latter being able to focus on the young Pierre Gasly for the post-Ricciardo team.

As for the second seat of the English team, however, Lando Norris should be the favorite as the Spaniard's squire, especially after his excellent performances in Formula 2 with the Carlin team, with Stoffel Vandoorne who could aim straight for one of the Toro Rosso seats.
