In an interview given during the press event organized by McLaren yesterday, Fernando Alonso spoke about the market situation relating to Stoffel Vandoorne, underlining how the Belgian talent deserves a place in Formula 1 in 2019. According to the Spaniard, in fact , the current McLaren driver is extremely talented and not seeing him on the grid again would be a real shame, especially given the excellent performances he showed in Formula 2.
Here are the words of Fernando Alonso: “We hope he can soon find a place in Formula 1. Stoffel is very talented and he demonstrated it in the preparation categories for the Circus. Unfortunately for him it was an unfortunate situation and he risks losing his place despite a good string of victories and good performances in the junior categories."
“Only Leclerc and Stoffel have the record of victories in Formula 2 and one of the two is going to Ferrari”, he added.
