F1 | McLaren, Alonso: “The track will be challenging to learn”

The stable of Woking, is preparing to face the French weekend: it will race on the circuit Paul ricard. The motivation of Fernando Alonso is very high, after the victory at 24 Hours of Le Mans:

“It's not often you get to drive on new tracks, at least for most of us. However, after my experience at Le Mans, it's great to be in France and heading to Paul Ricard. It still feels like a dream to have won the 24 Hours of Le Mans and now I can't wait to get back in the car. I've never raced at Paul Ricard but I did some testing a few years ago and saw the new layout of the circuit. I think it has the potential to be a fantastic track and then tackling a new circuit always makes it more exciting, because we're all in the same situation.".

“From what we know, it will be quite challenging to learn but it looks like there are some overtaking opportunities, which should provide an exciting race. I hope we can achieve a positive result.".

Among Formula 1 drivers, too Stoffel vandoorne had the opportunity to lap on the French circuit during a Pirelli test in 2016:

“It looks like a great track that has been very modernized and I think a great race can come out of it. It is a technical circuit with a mix of high and low speed sectors. Some curves, like the Signes, are extremely challenging and very fun. There are some areas where it is easy to overtake so hopefully the package can deliver. There will be a lot of fans coming to watch the grand prix for the first time, so we will have a great atmosphere all weekend. I want to congratulate Fernando on his victory at Le Mans. I followed the last hours at home, hoping that nothing would happen until the end. I know he prepared a lot and it was a great reward for the whole team.".
