F1 | Realist Mazepin: “I expect a difficult season”
"It's important to be realistic and keep your feet firmly on the ground," said the Russian
Despite the reassurances of Gunther Steiner, Haas team principal, Nikita Mazepin does not expect an easy debut with the colors of the American team. In an interview with Match TV, the Russian spoke about his personal objectives for 2021, highlighting how the technical package for next year will almost certainly not allow the riders to fight for the top positions in the rankings.
Haas' main focus will in fact be on preparing the car as best as possible for 2022, the year in which the new aerodynamic regulations strongly desired by Liberty Media will come into force. 2021 will be a transition championship where the riders will have to exploit all the possibilities that will be left aside by their rivals.
“It will probably be a difficult season and I will often find myself in the lower areas of the rankings,” the Russian said. “I won't fight anyone. It's important to be realistic and keep your feet firmly planted on the ground. I don't think there are many cars we can compete with. We will have to work a lot."
