F1: Max Chilton new Marussia test driver

Max Chilton will be Marussia's new reserve driver starting from the Japanese GP next October. The team principal of the John Booth team announced this on the official website, – “As part of our objectives is to support young drivers, we have decided to strengthen our commitment to GP2 by joining Carlin. In light of this, we have been able to observe Max Chilton and the his interesting performances, gradually more and more consistent which led him to his first pole position and victory in Hungary last month. We have therefore decided to give him this chance which will lead him to work with the engineers, technicians and carry out marketing activities for the remaining races of the championship in order to allow him to accumulate experience before getting on the MR01".

“I'm happy for this fantastic opportunity” – declared the Englishman – “Being able to run with Marussia during the tests for young drivers at Silverstone was a nice taste of how F1 works and now I can't see the It's time to join the team as a test driver. I believe that my driving and racing skills have matured a lot this season and having the opportunity to see up close how an F1 team works will be another step forward for my career."
