F1 | Mauro Bianchi (Jules' grandfather): “Leclerc in Ferrari? A sort of revenge for what happened to my nephew"

In an interview released a The Republican Lorrain, Mauro Bianchi (grandfather of Jules, who passed away on 17 July 2015 following serious brain damage sustained in the accident which saw him unwillingly protagonist in the 2014 Japanese GP, ed.) spoke about Charles Leclerc.

The Monegasque, protagonist of an excellent debut season in Formula One aboard Alfa Romeo Sauber, will be Sebastian Vettel's teammate at Ferrari from next year, thus taking the place of Kimi Raikkonen.

Leclerc and Bianchi were very close friends, the latter in all likelihood should have landed in Maranello if fate had not taken him away from life prematurely.

"I see it as a sort of revenge for Jules – underlines Mauro Bianchi -. Jules was ready to be where Charles, who I know well, is and a friend, will be. I have known Charles since he was four years old, when he came to my son's circuit in Brignoles. He started when he was still little, with Jules very interested in him. I watched him grow. It seems incredible, but I have the impression that I find Jules' temperament in Charles. I can't wait to see him next year and I'm sure he will amaze more than one person".

On Jules: “Losing my nephew was a terrible tragedy, but my passion for motoring allowed me to overcome this".
