F1 | Masi against criticism of Istanbul Park: "Little time to make the necessary changes"

Interviewed at the end of the last Turkish Grand Prix, the 14th round of this 2020 Formula 1 world championship, Michael Masi defended the asphalting work carried out promoted by the managers of Istanbul Park, underlining how the laying of the new road surface was absolutely necessary , given that the last modernization work dates back to 2017.

Many drivers, we remember, complained about the grip present on the track, highlighting how the type of "grain" penalized the regular use of the compounds and therefore the performance on the track. A condition that the teams intend to face also from a future perspective, given that Istanbul Park is one of the candidates to take Vietnam's place.

“Several changes have been made because the last asphalt certified by the FIA ​​was in 2017,” said Michael Masi. “An enormous amount of work was necessary to prepare the track for this Grand Prix and all this was possible thanks to the help not only of the owners of the circuit, but also of the Turkish government. Obviously we must recognize that the preparation was carried out in a fairly short period of time."
