F1 | Marko, three teams may have exceeded the 2022 budget cap
"The spending cap issue is too open to interpretation and weak on the facts," the longtime Red Bull consultant reported
This year too, the rumors about possible breaches of the limit do not subside budget cap, which would refer to last season, by some teams. An indiscretion that was also relaunched by Helmut Marko, with the historic Red Bull consultant even underlining the number of teams involved: three. All that remains is to wait for the reports from the FIA, which at the moment has not yet commented on this type of rumour, to understand if there have been any overruns of the spending ceiling in the 2022 World Championship too.
“Apparently there would be three teams that could have surpassed him – declared Marko, interviewed by motorsport-total – Red Bull is developing the RB17 Hypercar (car designed by Adrian Newey, whose production is scheduled for 2025, ed.) and there are people who work partly here and partly there. How to explain it? There are also people with us who no longer want to travel, who no longer want the pressure of Formula 1 and therefore we can include them in such projects."
Marko, completing his analysis, added: “And if they work in Formula 1 for a few hours, then you have to calculate those hours. The whole cost cap issue is still too open to interpretation and too weak on the facts. It is a topic that needs to be improved."
