In a chat given to the columns of Auto Bild, Helmut Marko spoke about the transfer negotiations between Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton, underlining how the Englishman has very little chance of receiving the 60 million requested for the renewal of the contract expiring at the end of the next season.

According to what the Austrian declared, Mercedes is not willing to shell out such a sum for the extension of the agreement (the maximum ceiling set by Toto Wolff was 45 million), an aspect which could dramatically put Ferrari back on track.

“Lewis is a six-time world champion and we are talking about a very important figure for Mercedes marketing,” said Helmut Marko. “I think he knows his value. In any case, no team will be willing to shell out the 60 million per season he is asking for the renewal. Maybe Ferrari, but I'm not so sure."
