F1 | Mark Webber: “Red Bull starts as the big favourites”
Few doubts for the former Australian driver
Mark Webber doesn't have many doubts: Red Bull starts as the big favorite in 2023 too. The Milton Keynes team dominated last season, and the only unknown is the sanction imposed by the FIA for the budget cap case, with the reduction of working hours in the wind tunnel and in computational fluid dynamics (CFD).
According to Webber, however, the punishment inflicted should not prevent the engineers directed by Newey from unleashing their creativity and the team from continuing to win.
“At the starting line, Red Bull is still the most dangerous team – Webber's words to Autosport – I actually expect everyone to improve compared to 2022, but Red Bull has proven superior on all tracks, and also reliable. Not to mention the added value represented by Max Verstappen at this moment, I'm thinking for example of the Spa GP, on that occasion it was incredible. We don't know what impact the sanction will have on Red Bull, but they have engineers with great creativity, capable of always inventing something."
