F1 | Magnussen: “It makes sense to keep the same riders in the team”

The Danish driver confirmed to the media that he and his teammate, Romain Grosjean, have decided to reduce their stipendio to help the team in this time of crisis due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“It was our way of showing solidarity with the team -he declared to the newspaper BT- we're all in the same boat, and it was appreciated."

Kevin Magnussen did not say how much his salary was reduced but reiterated his desire to remain at Haas even after 2020.

“They have an option for me which would be convenient for me. It was also decided that everyone will keep the 2020 cars in 2021, so it makes sense to keep the drivers too.”

The 27-year-old is spending this quarantine period at sea, on his sailing boat:

"There's not much else to do at the moment, so Louise, myself and a friend are just enjoying life. I don't know when we'll start again, but I really miss it. I hear the same rumors as everyone else that if there are races in July it will be without an audience, which would be a bit strange. But obviously it's better than no race."

Some of his colleagues are passing the time with simulators, also involving fans on social media:

"I only use social media when I think I have something important to say, but I've never been one to post what I had for lunch or that I just took a bath. I hope I am not forgotten!”
