F1 | Leclerc, frustration after retiring in Monaco: "I saw the space and I tried, but it didn't go well" [VIDEO]
"We had to take risks, we shouldn't have started from 15th position"
“There are many lessons we need to learn from, first yesterday's qualifying, then also the race. I had fun at the beginning, unfortunately it didn't end well,” commented Charles Leclerc to Sky Sport F1 speaking about his very unfortunate race at home, in Monaco. After a sensational error in strategy and calculations in yesterday's qualifying, which forced him to start from 15th position, in the race the Ferrari driver managed to pull off a couple of fantastic overtaking moves on a circuit where overtaking is impossible. Then finally the contact with Hulkenberg, which led to his retirement.
“There were still some risks we had to take at that moment, maybe I could have waited a little longer but I saw the space to go there and I tried. Then it ended there. The result is certainly a consequence of yesterday, we shouldn't have started from 15th position. Now the weekend is over, we have to analyze well and we have to concentrate and dedicate ourselves completely with a united team to the next race", concluded Leclerc who is already thinking about the next GP.
