F1 | McLaren will return in papaya color in Baku
No confirmation for the Gulf livery: "It was designed only and exclusively for Monte Carlo"
The McLaren was certainly the most aesthetically beautiful car of the Monaco Grand Prix. The Woking team in fact raced with a special livery agreed with the sponsor Gulf, and seeing it live also definitely had its purpose, we can assure you. The performance of the MCL35M was very positive, so much so that Norris, who defined that color as “more beautiful than the original one” he managed to get on the podium, perhaps unexpectedly considering the forces at work in the streets of the Principality. Fans around the world have been clamoring for that livery to be confirmed for the rest of the championship, but McLaren is firm on the decision to return to the papaya colour.
“It was clear from the start that the livery would be exclusive to Monte Carlo – hsaid Andreas Seidl, team principal of the Woking team. It was designed for this iconic race and to celebrate the historic partnership with Gulf, which dates back to the 60s. This was the basic idea of the project between us and our sponsor. That's all I have to say about it."
