After the accident in Singapore, Perez and Ocon are aiming for the top ten

F1 | Force India ready for redemption in Russia

After a terrible weekend spent in Singapore, Force India seeks redemption in the Russian Grand Prix in Sochi. Perez and Ocon in fact clashed at the start, with the Frenchman forced to retire. A nightmare race for the Mexican, seasoned with a Drive Through for deliberately running into Sirotkin at the height of an all in all passionate fight with the Russian from Williams. After the team principal's statements Otmar Szafnauer, which prohibited fights between drivers, both Ocon and Perez are called to make up for themselves in Russia, trying to bring as many points as possible to Force India.

“I was very disappointed with the result in Singapore – Perez said – but facing the difficult days is part of our job. I've already moved on and can't wait for Sochi, where I'm sure the result will be very different. I want to get back in the car and get the points the team deserves. The Russian Grand Prix brings back great memories, when I went on the podium three years ago. It was an unexpected result in a certain sense, I remember the fight at the end of the race, because I had no tire left. It was a fantastic day for us, I really like Sochi: the event is getting bigger and bigger and every year they put a lot of effort into organizing a good race. The track seems like a road one, albeit fast and smooth. It is difficult to overtake and qualifying will once again be important. Turn 3 is the memorable part of the track: it's very demanding on the front right tire and reminds me of turn 8 in Istanbul, you really feel a lot of energy from the entry to the exit of the turn. I'm optimistic for this weekend and I think we will be competitive. Singapore did not deliver the desired results, but the performance and balance of the car were very good. If we can take a step forward in Sochi, we can achieve a good result. The new updates still have hidden potential and we hope we can find it in Russia."

“Singapore weekend was terrible – Ocon said – leaving us empty handed despite having a great car and the pace to do well, so I'm determined to bounce back in Russia. We have had some improvements with the updates, so I think we will be competitive once again in Sochi. We can score points with both cars and we will work hard to achieve this. I like the Sochi track, I will race here for the third time: I had a positive weekend in GP3 and last year I got to Q3 for the first time in Formula 1. These are good memories and I hope to have more when the race ends . The track is quite fun to drive, especially the third sector, which is my favorite. There are a lot of left-right-left direction changes and 90 degree turns which I really like. The weather can be a bit iffy at this time of year in Russia, but I think we can be strong in both wet and dry conditions. The top ten must be our goal both in qualifying and in the race, we hope to do better than the others."
