F1, the FIA determined to ban blown exhausts after a meeting in London

The FIA is determined to push ahead with its ban on blower exhausts in Formula 1 following a meeting with teams in London. F1's technical working group met Charlie Whiting yesterday and despite some controversy, the FIA technical delegate told the teams that the Federation intends to severely limit the blowing of exhaust releases into the diffusers ahead of next month's British GP.

According to rumors, Red Bull will be the team most penalized by the ban but Mercedes and Renault would also suffer serious consequences.

“The extent to which each team will be affected depends on how the engineers have used that technology,” Rob Marshall, Red Bull's chief designer, told The Sun.

“There are some teams that use it quite heavily and some don't use it at all. Some teams will suffer more than others."

Stefani Domenicali, Ferrari team principal, declared in this regard: “After Silverstone it will be possible to express an opinion on our season. All I can say is that I hope the ban penalizes us less than others."
