F1 | Honda's happiness: “We finally did it!”

Max Verstappen's victory brought Honda its first success in the hybrid era. After years of suffering and continuous battles (especially with McLaren), the Japanese company has finally achieved its satisfaction, returning to the top in a Formula Grand Prix since Budapest 2006. An irrepressible joy for the Japanese, who thanked all those who supported them in these difficult years.

“Thanks to the commitment of all Honda staff in Japan and the UK, who worked tirelessly on the development of our power unit, we have finally done it – commented an enthusiastic Toyoharu Tanabe, Honda's technical director. This is our first victory in the hybrid era, the first since the 2006 Hungarian Grand Prix. Special thanks go to all their families who supported them. Thanks, of course, to Max for a great performance today and to Red Bull for providing him with a fantastic car. We must not forget the great contribution of Toro Rosso, which helped us get back on the right track last year. Honda didn't achieve this alone, so we want to give credit to our suppliers as well. This win is also a great way to thank all our fans, around the world, for their continued support. We've been back in this sport since 2015, but now it feels like a new beginning. We will enjoy this moment, but we will soon get back to work, because we still have to reduce the performance gap from the fastest teams."
