Marko: "Hartley fast and technically prepared"

F1 | Kvyat hasn't gotten the interview with Marko yet

In Austin, in the GP of the Americas which saw the debut of Brendon Hartley and the return of Daniil Kvyat in Toro Rosso, the Russian driver appeared decidedly in better shape than in his recent appearances. Kvyat managed to get one point with tenth place at the end of a hard-fought race, and at the end of the GP he didn't hide his satisfaction: "This was my best race of the year – he said – with a few weeks of rest I was able to take a break and then exploit my potential again" .

However, this may not be enough to guarantee the 2018 seat to the Russian, who next year will compete for the place in the Faenza team with Pierre Gasly and Brendon Hartley. The decision will be made by Helmut Marko, who was supposed to have an interview with Kvyat this weekend, which apparently has not yet taken place. “I don't know when it will happen” admitted the Toro Rosso driver.

Marko, for his part, wanted to say a few words appreciation towards Hartley, who finished the race 13th but without errors throughout the weekend. “In endurance races he is already very good – said the Austrian – this is impressive, and the technical statements to the engineers are exceptional”.
