F1 | Jos Verstappen: “Now the English journalists will remain silent, Max has shown he is the best”

The race at Interlagos was without a doubt one of Max Verstappen's best races in his career. The Dutchman, who after qualifying and elimination in Q2 seemed destined to a difficult race at the back, was the protagonist in extreme conditions of a prodigious comeback from seventeenth position that saw him climb onto the top step of the podium.

A success that the Dutchman had not achieved since the Spanish Grand Prix last June and which put an end to a 10-race win drought, effectively allowing the reigning world champion to secure his fourth consecutive title, the mathematical certainty of which could already arrive in the next round in Las Vegas.

A victory, the one obtained in Interlagos, served to Verstappen to goad the English journalists who only a week earlier in Mexico had pointed the finger at the behavior on the track of the Dutchman in the battle with rival Lando Norris. A race situation that had led the stewards to penalize Max with a 20-second penalty.

But it's not just Max Verstappen who thought he'd give the English media a taste of his own medicine, even dad Jos didn't miss the opportunity to go on the attack after his son's extraordinary success.

“This is the best answer Max could give to all the complaints to the English. Now commentators, journalists and former pilots will shut up, he has shown that he is the best,” said Jos interviewed by De Telegraaf.

Verstappen Sr. continued: “Max’s driving style is perfect, and yet he is asked to change it. On the first lap in the rain he overtook six cars, proving he is perfect in those kind of conditions.”
