F1 | Irvine: “Verstappen is definitely the fastest driver around”

Eddie Irvine has no doubts. For the 1999 vice world champion Max Verstappen he is in fact the fastest driver currently on the grid. The Dutchman, despite the retirement suffered in the Baku race, managed to maintain the leadership in the Drivers' World Championship, favored by Lewis Hamilton's error on the restart which relegated him to the last positions in the standings. For Irvine, however, the seven-time world champion, despite some unsuccessful attempts, remains overall the best driver.

"At the moment Verstappen is certainly the fastest driver around – said Irvine interviewed by Betway – But it must be said that Lewis Hamilton is probably the best driver. Verstappen has always been super fast and is by far the leader of the most dominant team on the grid. He had many different second drivers on the team and none of them came close to him. A bit like the Michael Schumacher effect. Even though Lewis was outpaced by his teammates, Verstappen is probably the talent par excellence, even if Hamilton is a consummate professional and has very few weaknesses".
