F1 | Verstappen-Hamilton accident, Horner: “Chapter closed”
“Let's focus on this weekend and the rest of the championship,” said the Red Bull TP
Red Bull has now put an end to the affair involving Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton at Silverstone, with the Dutchman having to suffer a very heavy zero in the world championship due to the accident with the seven-time world champion . Milton Keynes, who appealed to increase Hamilton's penalty but which was rejected, is now focused on the remaining races of the season, as stated by Chris Horner.
"The stewards felt that it was not new evidence within the confines of the regulations and therefore it was not opened up to another hearing, so we accept that – declared Horner, quoted by Formula1.com – This competition is all about marginal gains and leaves no stone unturned. And obviously, when you have an accident of that speed and impact, then, of course, you do a full investigation. But as far as we're concerned the chapter is now closed, the stewards have made their decision and now we're focusing a lot on this weekend and the remaining part of the championship".
Then addressing the Hamilton topic, and the various controversies that have arisen in recent weeks, Horner wanted to clarify: "This is absolutely not a personal attack on Lewis Hamilton. AND a seven-time world champion and everything he has achieved is unique. If it had been any other driver on the grid, we would have faced the same problem in the way we did. So there's nothing personal about this. But even a seven-time world champion can sometimes make mistakes or make bad judgments. That's just a fact, but at no point was it anything personal about Lewis.".
