McLaren's biggest dream is to win the 24 hours of Le Mans with one of its cars and its driver, Fernando Alonso. This is Zak Brown's goal. The regulatory change expected for 2020 may open the doors of the WEC to the Woking team.

McLaren participates in the ACO meetings on the regulations of the 2020-2021 Super Season, which includes the introduction of a new higher class called “GTD”. Toyota, Ferrari and even Aston Martin have also shown their curiosity.
The world of WEC is at a crucial moment in its history, as the exodus of Audi and Porsche puts the prestige of the category under scrutiny by new, possible, future investors. Brown explains that the proposed regulation satisfies them: “The regulations that have been proposed seem convincing,” he says from the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. “We could consider the possibility of racing with the new category – GTD – I think the most exciting thing: going to Le Mans and trying to win in the overall category, this is what has the most value for a racing team. It is something we are considering, McLaren has a long history in the world of motors,” he commented, sending a message of hope and encouragement to all the fans and enthusiasts of this motor category.

Zak Brown is very clear about which driver he would like for his project: “We would like to have Fernando in our team as long as he wants to race, and I think he will continue to race beyond his Formula 1 career. We would like Fernando to be with us if we participate in other car competitions,” he concluded.
