Lewis Hamilton showed up at the starting line of the 2020 world championship with a new helmet, against racism and in support of the "Black Lives Matter" initiative, of which the Englishman was often an active voice during the break period awaiting the restart of the season. Lewis' choice follows the one made in agreement with the team he races for, Mercedes, to completely modify the livery of its 2020 single-seater, the W11, going from the traditional silver colour, which has always been a distinctive sign of the German team, to a completely black, adding messages against racial hatred on the halo.
Teammate, Valtteri Bottas, also modified his helmet, adding an element on the back to his classic style to support the cause against racism.
