F1 | Hulkenberg would like Alonso in Renault: "It would be nice to compete with him"
The German: "He has always been considered one of the best riders and I would have no problem competing against him. It would be interesting"
There has been talk more than once about a return di Fernando Alonso in Renault, the team that allowed him to win his two world championships in 2005 and in 2006. Next season, in fact, could bring the Spanish driver "home", in the home straight with the McLaren which brought more suffering than success. If Fernando arrived at Renault he would also be welcomed with joy by his future "colleagues", including Hulkenberg: “It would be interesting to compete with one of the best,” he said.
Il future for Nico Hulkebnerg will still be in the team. The one who could leave is himself Jolyon Palmer, who is still at zero points and could easily be replaced by the driver from Oviedo.
“I have a long contract which gives me stability and the possibility to plan things. I know I have a team that I can work together with,” Nico Hulkenberg told Motorsport.com. “To be honest, I wouldn't mind having Alonso as a teammate,” commented the German, hypothesizing the arrival of the two-time world champion. “It won't be a decision that will be up to me, I have no influence, I am very relaxed. They can put a rookie or Alonso next to me. It would be the same. Fernando is a reference. He has always been considered one of the best drivers and I would have no problem competing against him. It would be interesting,” he concluded.
