F1 | Hulkenberg disappointed: “It's hard to accept”

Unlucky race for the French team with both drivers forced to retire. Daniel Ricciardo suffered an exhaust failure on lap 14 while fighting for 12th position. So much bitterness for Nico Hulkenberg who saw his chance of fighting for the top 4 disappear, thanks to a mistake made on the last corner.

Nico Hulkenberg: “It's difficult to accept, I'm angry for myself, for the team and for Renault because they deserved an excellent result. We have to accept it but I'm disappointed with how it ended, especially in front of the home crowd. The final corner was very complicated due to the wet conditions, I lost the rear, I spun, I opened the steering and ended up on the asphalt. It was like ice and at that point I couldn't stop the car. We were doing a phenomenal job, the strategy was very difficult so it hurts and will do so again in the next few days."

Daniel Ricciardo: “There was an exhaust failure which caused the retirement, I could see smoke coming out of the back of the car. Obviously it's a shame, I watched the rest of the race and it looked fun out there. I would have liked to race because there were opportunities for big points. It's disappointing but we have to think about next week. It's a difficult overall result for the team but we hope that Hungary will be better for us."
