F1 | Horner: “The Monza accident is not comparable to the Silverstone one”

Interviewed by the British press at the end of the last Italian Grand Prix, the 14th round of the 2021 Formula 1 world championship, Christian Horner analyzed the contact between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen at the First Variation, specifying how the accident cannot be compared to that of Silverstone. According to the English manager, yesterday's episode occurred because both drivers chose not to lift their foot, risking everything. This, obviously, led the two to contact and retire after about half the race.

“It's difficult to divide the blame, I'd say we're talking about 50/50,” said the Red Bull Team Principal. “It's certainly not an accident comparable to the one at Silverstone. I am disappointed by the fact that Toto Wolff defines it as a tactical foul by Max. I believe it was a racing incident in which fortunately no one was hurt and for this we must be grateful to the Halo system."

“There is respect between the two drivers and they will start side by side in the next races too. There is no problem whatsoever" , he concluded.
