F1 | Honda satisfied at the end of free practice in Spain: "Our package seems to improve compared to the last races"

At the end of the first free practice on the Barcelona track, Toyoharu Tanabe commented positively on the evolutions brought by Honda in this Spanish Grand Prix, underlining how the entire package, after the last weekends in China and Azerbaijan, is growing in the right way direction. Hartley and Gasly, we remember, finished yesterday's free practice in fourteenth and eighteenth position, working mostly in view of Sunday's race. The Japanese engineer, precisely in this sense, revealed how today's free practice 3 will be fundamental for the correct development of the power units with a view to qualifying.

“In general, our package seems to improve compared to the last difficult races”, commented Toyoharu Tanabe. “We have learned a lot from the last two races and applied new ideas here.”

“Although there was a long stop in the afternoon for both cars, we ran without any problems detected and resumed our usual Friday programme”, he added. “It was a shame that our qualifying simulation tests were ruined by traffic, while the gusts of wind made the session even more complicated.”
