F1 | Honda will be title sponsor of the Japanese Grand Prix

After announcing on Saturday morning the renewal of the event for another three seasons, the organizers of the Japanese Grand Prix have announced that Honda will be the title sponsor of the seventeenth round of the 2021 Formula 1 world championship.

The excellent start to the season together with Red Bull, currently fighting with Mercedes to succeed in both the drivers' and constructors' world championships, has convinced the Japanese manufacturer to make its contribution to the event, placing itself at the forefront as title sponsor. For Honda it will be the last championship in which it will be present on the grid on an official basis, given that at the end of the year it will cease all its activities in Formula 1 as an engine engineer, leaving Red Bull itself the task of managing the Power Units in the next seasons. Currently, given the uncertain health situation, the holding of the Grand Prix in the second half of 2021 is not yet completely assured, but the Japanese motorsports industry is putting great pressure on the local government to ensure that the event goes ahead with the necessary precautions. Previously, Honda had already sponsored the Suzuka round in 2018.

Koji Watanabe, Chief Officer for Brand and Communication Operations at Honda Motor said: “Honda is very honored to once again be the title sponsor of the Japanese Grand Prix at the traditional Suzuka circuit, as in the 2018 season. We would like to thank all the fans of F1 and the parties involved and, through this sponsorship, show them our gratitude. Let's hope that motorsport in Japan continues to grow in popularity, in what is Honda's final year in Formula One. On the track, we will do everything we can with Scuderia AlphaTauri and Red Bull Racing to achieve the best possible result.”
