F1 | Honda aims for the top: "We want to win the championship"

Despite the "lockdown" and the three months of forced break from the track, Honda does not intend to change its objectives for the next 2020 Formula 1 world championship.

Interviewed by the Japanese press, Yasuaki Asaki and Masafumi Yamamoto reiterated their support for Red Bull and to the team Alpha Tauri, underlining how both teams will take to the track to achieve the best possible placings (in the case of Red Bull it will be the world title).

Red Bull, we remember, showed excellent performances during the pre-season tests in Barcelona, so much so that we were thinking of a Max Verstappen among the favorites for the Australian Grand Prix. Positive performances also for the Scuderia di Faenza, even if the latter must be included in the group of teams that will fight for fourth place in the constructors' championship.

“My goal is to win in a balanced situation at the top between Mercedes and Honda" said Yasuaki Asaki, head of Formula 1 operations at Sakura. “I am excited and anxious to start the season. We want to become world champions."

Masafumi Yamamoto, CEO of Honda, is of the same opinion: “This year we have set ourselves a great goal. I would like to compete humbly to meet the fans' support and expectations. We want to fight in every race and give them joy."
